Left class as junior on 17th birthday to join USMC. Promised teachers Katy B Havens, Rosalee Halbouty, and Mr. Corgey (who was USMC veteran) that I would return to school some day.
Spent career as lineman, line foreman, supervisor of contractors with GSU. Like many others was forced to retire when Entergy Co. purchased GSU.
Attended Lamar Port Arthur after retirement from Entergy and also worked on substance abuse unit "Life Resource" later Spindletop Center for ten years until state of Texas quit funding our in house treatment unit.

I had some great times at French High. My brother Luther attended French in the late 40's, cousin Lois in 1954, sister Pat in 1956, and me in 1960. Of course all my sister's kids(the Eastepp's four-Lynn, Debbie, Larry, & Ann). I guess it was pride that made me want to attend French. The summer after graduating from French I made one of the best decisions of my life, I married Patsy Ball and four days later I was off to old "Pecker Tech". I attended the last reunion for the 59's & 60's at the Beaumont country club and it was great. I look forward to the next reunion. Now a little about Me. Married with four children and five grand children. I pastor the First Assembly of God in Conroe. We have been here for 18 years. I lease 4476 acres for hunting and I enjoy golf. I preached a funeral in May 2001 for a old man who went to South Park. I made some statement about him being a "greenee". His brother came up to me afterward and said, "I was a greenee!
and I'm still a greenee! Well, I was a buffalo and I'm still a buffalo. I still love our school song. If you're from French, you're special.
Jan.2017 -- I have stepped down as Lead Pastor of Conroe First Assembly of God Church. We were there for almost 34 years. I still serve as the Presbyter for the North Houston AG churches. We love French High and our classmates.

I would have graduated with the Class of 1960 had we remained in Beaumont.
I attended French elementary and James Bowie through the 8th grade
and our family returned to Minnesota where I was born in the summer of 1956.
I am still in touch with Tommie Bailey Mills and Marian Holland Puente, who are my dear long, long time friends.

It was great to see everyone at the reunion. I am still working in Houston.
I have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Three are triplets that just turned 16 (3 driving-3 cars)
My other one is 23 going to college. Time flies.

Married a graduate of Orange Stark H.S. 13 ago?. Attended Lamar.
Worked @ Goodyear for over 10 years with many FHS graduates and then left for Saudi Arabia also to work.
Played golf on a totally sand golf course for 14 1/2 years,(worked also, Ha). Made many International friends over there & luckily the company paid for great vacations around the world. Great, great memories!

Great website and enjoyed reading the comments. Married a graduate of South Park 44 years ago?she is still a Greenie and I am still a Buffalo. Finished Lamar , went to Sam Houston for masters. Worked for a state agency (Adult Protective) and retired several years ago. Did golf for a while but now we own an antique business. Looks like Ms. Halbouty is most remembered. I saw her jump into a small trash can, saying it (trash can) was a direct object and it was receiving the action of the verb (Ms. Halbouty). Great, great memories!

I had a few favorite teachers, some whose names I no longer remember. Ms Halabouty/Hykes and Ms Cunningham, Grammar and Composition, respectively, stand out. Shortly after HS graduation tried college and didn't do well. Was diagnosed with a personality disorder (many will recall that!!) that turned out to be a form of autism. Got over it. Spent 21 years in the Navy, retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Graduated University Maryland 1993. Now a software consultant in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Married, no kids, two cats. Love sea kayaking and sailing. Guest lecturer at U of MD.

I am now retired from teaching in June 2005 so Bland and I are both at home. All of our children are grown and married. The 2 boys, Bland Jr. and Brent, are in Raymondville with one grandson and our two granddaughters. Lydia and her family are in Austin; Laura and her bunch are in Bay City. Between them they have our 3 grandsons. Grandchildren are wonderful! I am still an avid reader, but I also have been playing bridge almost weekly with the same group that got together back in 1968 when we were all newly weds. I enjoy cooking, especially for visiting family and friends. I love hearing from old friends and classmates from FHS.

Graduated FHS...Honorable discharge U.S.Navy...Graduated Lamar State College of Technology...Married twice and divorced twice...Three children-Shelley, Jeremy, Delaney...Lived in Texas (Beaumont, Silsbee, Port Neches, Port Arthur, Nederland, Vidor, Newton County)...Lived in Arizona 11 years(Phoenix, Casa Grande)...Worked 20 years for Lamar University Beaumont as Supervisor of Electricians and Electonic Technicians Maintenance Department(Retired August 2004).
Siblings that graduated from FHS--Sheila 1958(deceased 2004), Michael(Mike)1959 (deceased 2008), Thomas(Tommy)1961 (deceased 2008) .
They may change the name of our high school but they can't erase our memories. Thanks to all the teachers, staff, administrators, and fellow students for the memories!
