Comments: Hello, Classmates, so happy to have found this site. We have had wonderful reunions, including our 50th this year. Many of our classmates have been found and can be contacted. I noted the great interest in Miss Halbouty as expressed in so many of the entries from the various classes. She is living in Houston and recently lost her beloved husband of 46 years, "Jack" Maye, and is understandably grieving passionately for him. She actually doesn't fully appreciate the tremendous inpact she had on so many lives, including mine. I have visited with her several times. She is greatly interested in her students. Ron

Comments: Hard to believe that next year will be our 50 years reunion. We finally moved back to Texas five years ago and settled in Victoria to be close to my mother-in-law who is 95 now. Both of our kids also live in Texas...one here in Victoria and one in Tyler. No grand kids ... just three grand pups that are spoiled rotten. We are enjoying retirement and taking an occasional cruise. In Dec. we are going on a belated anniversary cruise (anniversary is Oct 28)to the Southern Caribbean. Guess we better celebrate hubby's birthday(Dec. 25) a little early on the cruise, too. Enjoyed seeing everyone at the last class reunion.

Comments: Nice to see that Joyce underwood is in Ft. Worth,Texas. We have been in Fort Worth for 12 years. I am a retired Texas teacher, but am now working for St. Andrew's Catholic school. Rodney retired from Unocal in Nederland in 1998. Rodney graduated from French in1958. We have two grow children and one grandchild and have been married 48 years in July. This website is wonderful and I was just wondering how we stand on coming reunions. Does anyone know if we are planning a reunion this year?

Comments:(Nov.2012) i just moved to north west houston,tx it has been a long time since graduating from FHS class of 1961 (Dec.2005)--- i met some interesting people at french high...students there seem to be more down to earth,frendly,and easy to talk to. mr.coody was funny and deeply involved in our lives. ms. dunn helped me out a lot in art class. other teachers were instramental in pointing me in the right direction. they were all inspiring.

Comments: I am currently teaching Art in Woodville, Texas. I do not have a computer so if you want to contact me, you'll have to email my daughter, Heather. I have two children, John 34 who lives in Austin, and Heather 30 who lives in Fredericksburg. My favorite teacher was Ms. Halbouty because of her dramatic teaching style. This sense of drama helped me to remember all of the basic rules of grammar which enabled me to make it through college with a B.A. (University of Florida) and a M.S. (Florida State University). I have Great Memories of French High and I would love to hear from other graduates of '61.

Comments: I'm looking at 2-5 dynamite years before retiring from a career as a researcher in wildlife ecology with the U.S. National Park Serv.& Fish and Wildlife Serv. Have been fortunate enough to spend details in NY, VA, WV, MN, MO, WY, and AK, with international assignments in Canada, Belize, and Australia. My work has taken me to every state in the U.S.- most with wife Joan (Paris,TX)who also works for NPS. And it all started with hunting and fishing in the Big Thicket just north of Beaumont with buddies George Miller, "Boogie" Mitchell, Ray Hatch, Jodie Ragland, Evan Norton, Gene Pipes, Mike Gilbert, and others - and a GREAT high school education at French. I don't think any of my kids enjoyed high school nearly as much as I did seems times have changed. So thanks to the fine teachers and coaches, and you classmates. DROP US AN EMAIL!

At present location for about eleven years. Always think of some of my teachers and wonder what happened to them. Favorite was Bowie math/science teacher, WmAHarper. He was just a great help in tough time! There was Halbouty who encouraged me, but also tended to make me mad. Miss Cunningham was a relief the next year! Any news or word from teachers?

Comments: My brother Bill put me onto this homepage. You all knew me as Ginnie Ehrhart. I left Beaumont in 1965 and have lived in Houston and LaPorte since then. I went to Lamar for two years. Received a "Certificate of Completion" from the School of Business. Worked a couple of years at Norvell-Wilder Supply Company before moving to Houston. Married in 1967 and was widowed in 1987, no children. Am currently working for Drago Supply Company in LaPorte (based in Port Arthur). This is a great thing Beth is doing on this site. The old sites that we haunted are pretty much gone--- progress!!! i married a guy from nederland, charles cole. we married in 1962 and have two grown daughters and 5 grandkids, three of which live next door to us. what a trip!! two teens and a 3 yr. old. we both retired just a couple of mo. ago, myself from nursing and charles sold his auto paint store. we spend most our time at the beach house during spring and summer and the deer lease in fall. hope to see all of you by email or in person if we have a class reunion, carlis

UPDATE! Feb 20,2004 - In memory of Judy English. I lost touch time and time again with my classmates. Judy always managed to find me or me her over the years. When I thought about my graduating class, it was always Judy that came to mind first. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone; I never knew her not to see the best in everyone; her gentle soul; her oh-so-beautiful smile. You know that smile -- the one that is lighting up heaven.
