GREAT SITE. On OCT. 8TH of '03 The class of 1953 AND 1954 had their reunion at the Beaumont Club. I was very thrilled to see all my FRENCH HIGH classmates and 2 of our coaches. I still to this day look on all of us as family. LET'S DO IT AGAIN SOONER.

Class of 1954; enjoyed most all of the teachers, as well as the students; we were pretty special back then. Retired from the Marine Corps (Private to Major) in 1977; then into sea ports and air ports.

Class of 1954. Attended Lamar (Tech) University for one year, then joined the U. S. Marine Corps. After military service, returned to Lamar and was graduated in 1965, with a BS degree in political science. Enrolled in graduate school at University of Texas at Austin in 1965, then moved to Houston and went into business in 1966. I am still active in the business (insurance, employee benefits and financial planning) and have no plans to retire.
My favorite teacher was Majorie Cunningham, who instilled in me a love for English that I shall always have. Among my special memories are those of our world-class principal, D. L. Hybarger. They are both gone now but as long as any of us are alive they will surely never be forgotten.

Live's touched, that, touched me. The begining of fall, cold weather, school days, teachers, that
helped to guide us. Friends that you did not see again for 30-40 years. Doopsy Lobow, anybody remember him? There are hundreds of us, that, do and always will. He left sometime in late 50's or early 60's. All my memories are special, about French High, good or Bad. Special teachers

I think this is a wonderful idea.
My favorite teacher was Ms. Halbouty. If you didn't learn from her, something was very wrong because she put her heart and soul into teaching.

I was just informed of this site. It is great. There are a bunch of us 53,54,&55 grads that get together pretty often so I'm going to share this with them. I know they will be interested.
I retired from Dupont (Bmt Works) in 1997 and then really started working. I met and marred a girl from Mobile,Ala. in 1959. She is a school administrator via teacher, via principal, in the VISD. She has no set date for retirement but it won't be too long. Then I can take off my apron. We have a daughter, Teri Kelley, who is a teacher in Vidor. She is married to a Minister, Monty, and they have one son, Josh, who is 12 yrs old. They live in Beaumont.
I saw a couple of names on here that I have been wondering about for years. I plan to make contact. Thanks for all your hard work.

Hi fellow classmates. I am Linda Moseley Shiflet. I live in Beaumont, as I always have. I have two beautiful daughters that went to French also, Melanie Shiflet Bleuel and Kimberlee Shiflet Bryant. God has blessed me with three wonderful grandchildren, Michael, Katie and Koby. My daugther Melanie and I both had Mrs. Davidson in high school. What are the odds of that? I always tell my daughters there was nothing like growing up in the 50's. It was such an innocent time. Remember hanging out at the Pig Stands? As Far as remembering favorite things in school, a lot of memory has left. I do remember almost making cheerleader (came in 7th out of 13 and only 6 made it.) Of course, that was a bit of a dissapointment! Growing up in the 50's made up for any high school dissapointments. It was a wonderful time. I'll never forget it.

Chevron (formerly Gulf) has moved us to Houston, MI, OH and CA. Thank you for having this "reunion". Jack and I miss all of our old friends and teachers. We were the first class to graduate from the "new building", but most memories are still at the old building with the Criswell twins teaching everyong to jitterbug in the gym.
