Your doing a GREAT job and we appreciate your efforts so much.
I've enjoyed a full life as a Chemical Engineer but, of course, am now retired. My wife, Patsy, and I reside in Tyler, Texas, and enjoy our friends, the city, the medical facilities, our church affiliations, and other activities in which we are involved. I bowl twice a week, meet with a men's church affiliated griy for breakfast once a month, a men's coffee club once a month, and still drive my 1930 Model 'A' occassionally. Always glad to hear from former classmates. Regards to all and do keep in touch.

I'm writing my memoirs and would love to have a picture of the old French Elementary School where I began in first grade. If anyone can help me, send me an e-mail.
Though I moved from Beaumont after my Junior year and graduated from another school, I still consider myself a member of FHS class of '47. My education began in the first grade of the old French Elementary School. I would like to hear from my former classmates.

I'm not very good at this stuff and this is my third try. That should do it. Thank you very much for this Web Site. And thank you for running the 1947 convertibe with me standing outside. I copied it and put a picture of me standing out side a Corvette taken 50 years later. It is really neat. I hope I make it this time. Thanks again. Lou Walters

Just had a special reunion (51st)
Had a nice turn out.
As it always happens the ones from out of
town attended, ones living in Beaumont forgot to show.
Update:Jan.5 2000:
the class of 47 had our 52nd reunion September 9,2000. Just an added note Harold and I celebrated our 50th wedding anvisary on August 19. Several old French High Chums came to Lake Charles to celebrate with us. My maid of honor came (Betty Pate Robichaux) JoAnn Stika Taite and Alma Montgomery Beatty.
We had approximately 80 friends and all had a blast.
Mr Hybarger was principal to our class at Edwards Elem., Gary Jr. High and French High. We also had one of the best English teachers Mrs. Lester.
Harold and I have 5 daughters,(one died of breast cancer) 5 sons-in-law, 19 grandchildren. 4 great grandchildren. We have had a wonderful life.French High was a great high school.

My favorite class was English with Mrs. Hugh Lester. She was one of the best teachers I have ever known. I tell my two sons that my memories of school was no drinking, no drugs, very little smoking, good morals, and you better mind the teacher or you got twice the licking when you got home. I have three grandkids, two step grandkids, three great grandkids and two more on the way.
My life has been blessed.

I have fond memories of French High School in a "kinder, gentler" time. I regret that our grandchildren who are in high school now cannot have the same experience.
Two of my favorite teachers were Mrs. Lester and and Mrs. Permenter.
I have lived in Houston for 40 years and now have a "blended family" of 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The day I left was great. (Actually the biggest mistake
I ever made.) I remember Mr. Hybarger very well and with much respect.
Worked at Hamilton Nursing Home for 50+ years retiring as President
(CEO) in 1994. I had the pleasure of caring for several French HS teachers
& alumni.
