Jason Broussard
Jason Matthew Broussard, 43, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
Jason was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born in Beaumont on September 18, 1963 to the late Betty and Cyrus Broussard, Sr. He lived in Tyler for eleven years as a child and has lived in Beaumont since 1976.
Jason graduated from French High School in 1982. He was employed by TDCJ for fourteen years, working at the Gist Unit and was currently Captain of correctional officers at the Mark Stiles unit. Jason had a strong faith in God and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church.
His faith and his family were the most important things in his life. Jason enjoyed spending time with his son Matthew, especially through hunting, Boy Scouts, and sports. He was fun-loving and enjoyed lovingly teasing his wife and high school sweetheart, Nan.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Nan Broussard; son, Matthew Broussard; sister, Margaret Farris; brother, Cyrus Broussard, Jr. and his wife Vicki; sister, Melissa Smith and her husband Royce; mother-in-law, Elsie Kennett Phillips and her husband James; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Doyle Gould, Deedra and Ronnie Shuler, Ross and Lyn Kennett, Jennifer and Jimmy Becks, Darla and Curtis Pollard; four nephews; and seven nieces. Jason is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Cyrus Broussard, Sr.; grandparents, Margaret Pittman Jackson, Freddie and Claudia Broussard; great aunt, Tula Pittman Rike; father-in-law, Boyd Kennett; and two nephews, Chad Becks and Shane Shuler.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will begin 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2007 at the mortuary. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Cherry, Stephen Matthew Cherry, Todd Senters, Casey Crenshaw, Ron Brisendine, and Bruce Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Kennett, Doyle Gould, Ronnie Shuler, Jimmy Becks, Curtis Pollard, and Royce Smith.
