Got hooked and we have been singing ever since as a hobby and entertainment... We sing a our local club in our town on Sun and Wed nites. We lost our only son in 1990 at the age of 15!         Comments: Currently, A United Methodist Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference. Pastoring local church in Riverdale, IL. After FHS went to Job Corp in Alburquque, NM; the joined The United States Army, served on active duty for 3 years. After active duty settled down in Evanston, IL. Worked at Evanston Hospital as Registrar and attended Northeastern Illinois University where I recieved the Bachelor Degree in Sociology. While I was no longer on active duty in the Army, I continued my miltary career in the Army Reserve as an senior NCO. In 1983, I was called to the ministry and enrolled at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. I received the Master of Divinity Degree in 1986. After ordination, I served in the Baptist Church as assistant pastor for several years and was Commissioned as a Chaplain in the United States Army Reserve. Because of the limitations placed on women in the Baptist tradition, in 1994 by credentials was recognized by the United Methodist Church and I was appointed to my first pastorate. In 2003, I started a Doctor of Ministry Degree at United Theological Seminary in Spiritual Formation in The Practice of Ministry which an emphasis on the spiritual formation of children in particular.I earned the title, "Rev. Dr." December of 2005. I have retired from the military, hoping to receieve first retirement check in 2010. I have several years to go before retiring from the pastorate. My life has been full and wonderful! God has blessed me beyond comprehension. I never got married and have no children but my life has been rich in so many other ways; that I have no regrets! Through my ministry I have touched so many lives...God has granted me the opportunity to lead, guide, and nurture so many why should I have any complaints! What an amazing journey The Lord has taken me on and it is not over yet! Praise God!

My daughter Lizzie, born 2/2/91, is 17. She plans to join the Coast Guard when she finishes high school. My husband Bob Wilson and I married in 1974. We hope to retire to the Gulf Coast of Alabama, Mississippi, or North Florida in the not too distant future.

Married James Powell in '69 Graduated with teaching degree from Lamar, taught/administrator for 23 years in BISD, got my doctorate at TAMU in '96, (divorced in '93), went into pharmaceuticals in '95 in Houston where I am currently a District Manager with Novartis Pharma legally supervising reps sell drugs. Have 3 sons, Josh, Micah and Matt. Only Josh is married (last April and living in Florida). Micah and Matt working in Beaumont area. Matt Powell actually is co-owner of Lone Star Performance and Speed (on College @11th ST.) which rebuilds engines of those hot rods we drove back then. Loved that old '55 turquoise /white Chevy Belair I drove when I got my license @ 14! That sounds scary now, doesn't it!? Remarried 4 years ago to Jim Graves, an attorney at Mehaffy Webber (Houston office) and love living on the water here not far from Kemah. Nice to read about everyone! Jim and I enjoy travelling, cooking and having friends over to sit out on the deck while watching the boats go by..

        Comments: Thank you Maribeth for an amazing web site. My fondest memories are pep rallies, football games, the gang (Nancy, JoAnn, Laura, Kristine, Martha, Kathryn). And of course, Mickey! Friday nights were pretty special, too. We were always up to something our parents didn't know about! And of course, those trips to the beach. First marriage lasted nine years. I wised up, got out and met my true love, Rob. We'll celebrate our 25th anniversary this fall. We have two daughters (Krissy - 24 and Mandy - 22). Both just graduated from college and Krissy is getting married in October, so I hope for that first grandchild soon. I worked in Human Resources forever it seems and retired two years ago. That worked out well since planning Krissy's wedding is a full time job! I've lived in Colorado since 1969. I have wonderful memories from high school and find it difficult to believe it's been 35 years. I'd love to hear from old friends out there.

        Comments: I was not the most popular girl there thats for sure.I was pretty much wanting to hide in the background but boy thats changed .I have been married to James Hendrix{ yes he's teased about being Jimi Hendrix}of Sour Lake for 33 years .We have 3 fine sons and 4 step grandsons,2 grandsons by my oldest son ,and a grand daughter by my oldest son.{Finally a girl!!!!} The other two don't have children as of yet.One lives in Rose City, one lives in Sour Lake and the baby lives in Houston.I like doing Floral arrangement {silks}and planting all the flowers I can.I had several teachers I liked at French .I was in the choirs at french and will never forget beating the accapella choir at contest and getting to go to Corpus for the Buccaneer festival where we did quite well.Also winning a 1st place medal for "Since My Tears. " we were the only group that was told we could skip contest and not fail the class.We were ALL SHOCKED when the announcement was made.Especially Mr. Bean !!! I wonder where my fellow singers are today ? I Would love to hear from them

I really miss my school days. I didn't know it then, but I'm kind of sentimental about it now. I went to work for Beaumont Telco Federal Credit Union my senior year. After 24 years, I quit and stayed home for two years. Then I went back to work there and have been back 8 years part-time. I guess old habits are hard to break. I love running into old classmates and catching up on events in their lives. I guess we need that to stay connected in our old age!!

Don't recall a favorite teacher, there were a few good teachers; Mrs. Calhoun (Engl/Lit teacher), a Photography teacher (don't recall his name was from NY), Mr. Samuel(the first black teacher at French.) Sadly, I must confess, I don't have many fond memories of FHS. My memories of French mostly center around survival issues. Only recently have I become concerned with making contact with FHS. I am looking for other African-Americans who started French in 1964, if you should hear from any of them please put me in contact with them. Thank You and God's Blessings!

        Comments: I married young to a guy from a rival school (Forest Park). That was in 1969. It lasted 2 years. Several years later I married Keith Watson. After finishing Bachelor degrees at Lamar Univ., we moved to College Station, Tx. where Keith completed his doctorate degree in Economics. I worked at a motorcycle shop for several years and we had our first child, Tom (25, recently out of the navy and in school at Univ. Of LA, Lafayette). We lived in Stillwater, Ok for 1 year. He was asst prof. at OSU and I worked for an independent oil operator. Our second child (Elizabeth, 18, also at the U of LA, Lafayette) was born in 1981 and we moved to Auburn where Keith taught at Auburn Univerity. Our third child, (David Robert, 16)was born in Opelika, Alabama. While Keith taught, I was a stay at home mom and then a daycare provider. Nothing too glamorous but it paid the rent. In 1988 we moved to Louisiana. I began my career of teaching (at long last). I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 6! th and 8th graders. I currently teach 6th and 8th grade reading at a small rural school in Sunset, LA. The things I remember most about high school would be the standing ovation I received from Mrs. Halibouty for my rendition of "Give me Liberty or give me Death",(I don't know what possessed me), I also remember asking Mrs. Wagstaff how she could possibly know what was in the author's mind. (I don't think I phrased it quite like that), and I loved Mrs. Smith in French. My fondest memories are the times with the Belles. I still remember all those songs. We should have made a record or something! We were great. Great times and great memories, this page is wonderful!

        Comments: I am married with an 8y/o daughter and a 26 year old son who is working on his Ph.D in physics at UT (wouldn't that surprise that poor woman who tried to teach us physics our senior year!). We have been in New Mexico for 8 years and love all of the wonderful activities at our disposal (skiing, fishing, camping, horseback riding, etc.). I have worked for almost 25 years now as a therapist for children and adolescents and still am doing it part-time. The rest of the time, I am actually, believe it or not, a musician, performing and writing songs. This has taken me from Nashville to Ireland and Canada and it's really a hoot! I'm sorry I won't be able to make it to our 31 year reunion, but I'll be thinking of all of you. I'm supposed to include comments about favorite teachers- well, some of the all-time greats were Ms. Smith, Ms. Wagstaff and good old Mr. Ruby. Over the years, I've come to appreciate the contributions of those people, especially when compared to some of the lamer teachers we suffered through (no names!).         Comments: What a great place to find old friends! As I was perusing all of the guest comments, many old memories came back to me. We really lived on the edge back then...11th street, the drive-in, drag races near Poe's service station, thousands of capers, pain-in-the-butt football coaches, cars that needed constant repairs, surfing and capers at the beach, fights in the hallways at school, assistant principal Lemasters, B.R. Meinig (math teacher),fishing trips to Dam B ( Rusty Morgan...let's keep those under wraps), school dances in the auditoriums, Mrs Wagner (ENGLISH), Mrs. Halabouty (remeber all that poetry?), Mr. Doyle (Latin), rice field roads, etc. It was pretty cool back then. I want to give a special thanks to Murphy Babb for carrying us through chemistry, math, Latin etc. James Gonzales and Ralph Biseline....think what kind of grades you would have made in math without him! Good to see some of my old running buds on the guest book. Enough reminissing! A quick update on me....I have been married to my wife Susie since 1975. We have three daughters Amy (17), Kelly (15), and Krissy (9). We live on a acreage in Cypress, Texas (northwest Houston) where we have lived for the past 19 years. I feel kinda like Ol' McDonald, with all the farm animals. I graduated from the U.S. Mechant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York in 1973. I own an operate several corporations which cover a range of operations in the oil & gas business such as exploration & production engineering and construction of offshore platforms, process facilities and pipelines and operations of oilfield facilities.         Comments: UPDATE: May 20: After graduation I spent a while at Lamar, married and divorced, and finally got my degree at UT Arlington. I lived in the Arlington area for 26 years. I'm now in the far north of New York State - 3 miles from the Canadian border and right on the edge of the Adirondacks. Summers are cool and short, and being within an hour's drive from the ski areas is great. This part of New York has the great fall foliage displays, but I sure miss the Texas bluebonnets in the spring. With two daughters, four grandchildren, four sisters, and my mother all still in Texas I may have to buy stock in the airlines.

        Comments: I am living in Buda TX (close to Austin). Still working as a banker in Austin. Still married to Larry Walsh who is from Groves. I have a stepdaughter Laura Avelar and we have 3 beautiful grandkids, Stephen, Hannah and Haley. Larry is retired and plays golf everyday. My bestest friend is Mary Basye Paule who still lives in Beaumont. Peggy Pate Meredith, and Delores DuBois Polnick and Doug Jackson and all of our spouses had a mini reunion at Doug's beautiful home at Horseshoe Bay last year and we all had a great time. I miss the old days and it is always great to see everyone at the reunions. Also good to read where everyone is these days. Great website and thank you Mary Beth.
        Haven't changed a bit. No gray hairs yet. Five cats and an adorable grandson. Never was able to have children but I do have a grandbaby (Stepdaughter, Laura). Still working. My husband, Larry, is a golfer and has great legs. He works some too. I golf some as well although my rounds of golf are usually about 7 hours. Our best friends are Mary and Wendy Nance. Still come back to Beaumont to visit family, golf tournaments, and go to the boats.

        Comments: I married Donald Richardson (class of 1967) in February of 1969. We will be married 30 years on February 21, 1999. We have two children, Kristie (25) who married in July 1998 and Donald Ray (23) who attends Lamar University and works part-time. My daughter will graduate from college in May 1999 with a BA in Primary Education. My Husband works for Timberline Insurance and because of his success I have never had to work outside the home. I have had a full life with many interesting curves. I am looking forward to becoming a grandmother someday. I am very excited about the 31 year reunion since I was unable to attend the 10 or 20 year reunion. My involvement in the reunion has given me the oppurtunity to visit with many 1968 graduates. I am looking forward to June 11th and 12th.

        This is my second registration. I live in Baytown. I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps with 2 in Viet Nam. I am married to lady from Viet Nam Nguyen T. Huong for 25 years. We have 2 sons and one daughter with a single granddaughter. The oldest (Minh) is in Baytown. Frank IV graduated from TAMU and is employed by SONAT. Jennifer graduated from SFSU an is in Dallas working for Maxim. We are looking forward to this reunion. Great to see something like this. What a way to see if people are still around.
        This project that Maribeth has done has really brought The French High School Alumni together. Great Job!!

We moved to California in 1971 and lived there for 15 years. We were transferred back to Houston in 1986 and moved to Austin 2 years ago. Austin is a great place to live!         Comments: What a web site! I had signed in earlier just to post the notice of our upcoming Class of '68 Reunion. Here's a more personal note. After graduation....met Norma while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. "Blind date" had been arranged by Debbie Dale (Class of 69) who was living there at the time. Norma and I have been married almost 29 years. Three grown children: Stephanie (Interior Designer - Dallas), Jason (Service Manager-BRC Bmt), Brett (Actor in Hollywood). No grandchildren yet....just a granddog. Norma and I have been involved in telecommunications as our careers. Currently own Business Resource Center in Beaumont (business telephone systems). Currently involved with the planning committee of our Reunion. Reallt enjoy seeing old friends and classmates. Looking forward to our upcoming Reunion

        Comments: I signed the guest book earlier, and mentioned our 30 yr. reunion thats being planned but didn't tell anything about myself.I married Danny Collier class of 67 in 1969, which lasted 6 months. Then in 71 I married Johnny Janot from Louisiana, he worked for KLVI radio,was a salesman and had a Cajun Radio show on Sunday morn. He also had a country band which performed around the area which I also sang with. We had 2 children, a son Johnny Janot 25yrs. old and a daughter Johnette, 18 yrs.old. We were married 12 yrs. when he had a massive heartattack, and died in 84. I then married a man from England, Davey Thornborough, a nice guy, who has been a wonderful father to my kids. He works for Chevron Chemical. I don't work except for relief dental assistanting for 4 dentist.. I know this sounds boring, but I have had a very interesting and good life. Except for a few setbacks along the way. I also have one grandson, who is 1 yr old.

I've been married to the same great guy for 33 years and we have 2 grown children, Shelly and Brad. I am still teaching 5th grade Science at Lumberton Intermediate School where Peggy Pate Meredith is our school secretary and Janet Roper Bohrer teachs 5th grade, too! We're all ready to retire, yet keep hanging on! Thanks to all for keeping the Buffalo spirit alive.

        Comments: What a thrill to find this website! 1977 grad Darryl Corley and I work together at Channel 6 and he's the one who found it. As for myself, I've been in broadcasting since my sophomore year at FHS. Did some radio along with 1968 grads Michael Byrd and Gary Thatcher while at French and Lamar and then hit the road for a few years, but turned up back in Beaumont at KFDM in 1980. Darryl and I are Producer/Directors here. What's neat is that we run into some of our old friends and teachers here at work. Over the years, Mr. Smallwood, Mr. Doyle, Mrs. Lanasa, Mrs. Knox and a few others have come into the studios for one reason or another. I've only kept in touch with fellow students Michael Byrd and Marc McLemore but would love to hear from anyone else out there. How many, like myself, still have an UNEDITED version of the '68 yearbook? How's that for memories? I'm married (Lynne) with four kids (plus two step kids) and I Praise God for everything in my life! I pray He keeps us all in His Grace! Thank you and please write...Randy
